Visit of ANACEC External Evaluation Commission

Between November 22-24, 2021 ”Nicolae Testemitanu" State University of Medicine and Pharmacy of the Republic of Moldova was subjected to evaluation by a commission of the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Education and Research (ANACEC) in order to accredit Public Health Bachelor's program and Public Health Management Master's program.
The external evaluation commission carried out its activity in a mixed format on daily basis. Interviews with the key persons - the University administration, program coordinators, teaching staff members and beneficiaries of studies - took place in online format. For the evaluation of educational and research spaces, as well as of the Health Sciences Library and hostels, the commission paid on-site visits.
Another ANACEC commission held an external evaluation visit in order to accredit the Psychopedagogy continuing professional development program, intended for teachers without pedagogical studies.
The evaluation mission took place between November 23-25 and included interviews with members of the institution's management team and teaching staff under continuing professional development program, graduates, auxiliary staff, online meetings, visits to all educational and auxiliary spaces, verification of documents and analysis of evidence proving the results and effects of different activities in terms of quality improvement.
The Psychopedagogy program, organized as a form of full-time education with a duration of one year, is credited with 60 transferable credits and 1800 hours. The program is divided into two semesters and includes classroom instruction contact hours, individual work and practical internship. During 2019-2021, 48 certified teachers completed the Psychopedagogy Program.
The Psychopedagogy program was initiated in 2018, based on the proposals of the External Evaluation Commission within ANACEC and Rector's Order No. 62-A of February 5, 2018 regarding the establishment of a working group for Curriculum development, approved on May 24, 2021 by the University Senate.
The beneficiaries of this program are graduates of integrated higher education programs in medicine, dentistry and pharmacy, who want to qualify as teachers without pedagogical studies, as well as University teachers.
The program was developed and approved by the profile department, subsequently following the approval procedure at all regulation levels (Quality Management Council, University Senate and Council for Institutional Strategic Development) as well as the coordination procedure with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education and Research of the Republic of Moldova.
The University trains specialists for the health system in: four integrated higher education programs (cycle I + cycle II): Medicine and Preventive Medicine with a duration of studies of 6 years, Pharmacy and Dentistry with a duration of 5 years; and four bachelor's degree programs (cycle I) in Optometry, Nursing, Radiological Technology and Public Health with a duration of 4 years.
The contingent of University beneficiaries is diverse and consists of 5696 students, including 1794 international students from 34 countries, 350 doctoral students, 1105 resident doctors, and about 4819 trainee doctors. This year, 990 doctors and pharmacists graduated from the University.
Currently, within 4 departments, 62 chairs, 2 centers and 19 scientific laboratories, there are 1,068 teaching and scientific-teaching staff members, including 12 academicians and corresponding members of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, 171 Habilitated Doctors and 534 Doctors of Sciences, 104 teachers and 399 Associate Professors.
